Creamy Basil Tomato Pasta is a simple yet elegant dinner made with tender pasta tossed in a rich tomato cream sauce, fragrant garlic, and fresh basil for a comforting, restaurant-style meal at home.

Ingredients

12 oz pasta (penne or fettuccine)

2 tbsp olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup fresh basil, chopped

Salt and pepper to taste

Optional: Parmesan cheese, for serving

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta until al dente according to package directions, then drain.
  2. Sauté garlic in olive oil over medium heat until fragrant.
  3. Add diced tomatoes and simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in cream and simmer for another 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Add basil and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Toss in cooked pasta and serve warm with Parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

Add red pepper flakes for heat or a splash of reserved pasta water to loosen the sauce. Leftovers can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
